If you have not been able to find the Nordic Track elliptical machine of your dreams, there is no reason to compromise. Too often, people will settle for a machine they do not like simply because it is what they can afford. You do not have to live with an inferior machine simply because it is within your budget. There are many different companies which make used fitness machines available to the public all the time. Just like buying a car, there are many great machines out there with a lot of great miles still on it. You deserve to be working out on the machine which will make you the happiest. After all, if you are not happy with a fitness machine, chances are you won’t use it.

If quality is a concern for you, you may want to look into models which have been refurbished. The machine you buy will be as close to new as you can get without the price. Many times the entire machine will be taken apart and all of the key components which wear out will be replaced. What you get is a machine which feels like brand new without the hefty price tag. The Nordic Track Elliptical Machines models for example can normally cost upwards of $3,000 can be found refurbished for at least $1,000 cheaper. A little searching will give you a machine you will love at a price you can afford.

When shopping for a used machine, it is important to look into the company you are interested in buying from. Checking out Better Business Bureau reports will tell you if they are selling quality products or not. Saving money should not mean you have to sacrifice quality. There are many reputable companies which can provide you a great machine at a decent price. You may also want to look into return policies in case the machine does not operate as promised. Many companies will have a no return policy on used or refurbished products. Knowing this ahead of time can help to save you a headache later on.

I want to purchase a machine to use in my home to help me get in shape – treadmill, rowing, machine, stationary bike, elliptical machine… What is the most recommended or best machine to help me get in shape?

I got myself a Bowflex Ultimate. There are literally hundreds upon hundreds of exercises you can do , it doesn’t take up much room, it folds up and you can move it like a dolly, and you can do the rowing and most anything else. There are several different types for different needs, and it builds muscle fast! and its incredibly quiet. I would recommend to check out their website and look at all the different models. Working out on this machine has made a huge difference for me, definitely one of the best financial decisions ive ever made. I will never have to buy another exercise machine ever again. Good luck in your search.

I’m a 25 yr old female trying to lose weight. My thighs are pretty bulky. I love using the elliptical machines at the gym, and I usually use it for an hour each day, if I have time. I’m just wondering if I’ll end up with thicker thighs because of added muscle mass, or if the machine will slim my thighs down instead. I have the resistance at 3-4 usually, and the incline at 10. I usually burn about 600 calories after an hour. thanks for any help!
lol no i’m not light at all. unless you meant setting it at a light setting. I’m also naturally muscular, without lifting weights, so that’s why I was semi-concerned. My thighs have a lot of muscle to begin with.. they just have fat covering them now. lol

Some ellipticals have a display which shows which muscles you’re exercising depending on incline and resistance. You should also be able to get personalized advice from a trainer at the gym.

I am 5 foot 4 and 12 years old. I weigh 135 pounds and want to know what workout got you the best results with the elliptical machine?

If you have problems with weight do what I did – try acai berry. If you wish to lose weight its superfood qualities help plenty – however those same qualities in addition help those who are trying to bulk up. Awesome! There’s a free trial going on currently at http://mineng.theslimmingdiet.info , why not try it, how worse could it make things?

Do they work really well when losing weight? or are treadmills better?

Which will make me lose weight faster? and also if I burn around 600 calories on an Elliptical exercise machine is it better than burning it on a treadmill or other machine of some sort?

Also do Elliptical exercise machines make you more muscle-defined? Because I do not want muscles, I just want to lose weight to be slim.. Some people say they also wont slim down my thighs they will just make them more muscly?

I’d say treadmills are better in helping you burn fat faster since they’re closer to the real deal. It raises your heart rate faster to the fat burning
rate so running to burn 600 calories will be more effective on the treadmill than on the elliptical.

However, you’ll probably find an elliptical a lot more motivating to use as they feel easier. I have been using an elliptical frequently–about 3-5 times a week–and I’ve noticed plenty of progress. My body feels pretty slim these days.

As for muscles from using an elliptical or treadmill, I’d say that it is not something you need to worry about. Just don’t strength train with weights and you won’t get any "muscly."

i run to keep in shape for swimming (30 min a day) & today i ran for 10 minutes & then decided to try the elliptical machine. i used it for about 20 minutes & overall i was less tired than if i had run for 30 minutes like i usually do. my heartrate was about the same but my calorie burn count was twice as much as when i ran!

i tend to think running would be a better workout because its harder for me personally but is that a myth just in my head? i was talking to one of my friends who majors in personal training/fitness in college & she said it was probably due to the impact that running gives you that makes me feel that way.

do you guys know which is a better workout? should i try the elliptical machine more now or would running still keep me in better shape for swimming? & other swimmers – what machines do you use/what other training tips do you do that keep you in shape for the swim season? thanks!!

i’m a competitive swimmer too! high five :) ok so anyways, i usually swim 6 times a week, so its pretty hard on my joints, so i like using the elliptical machine. i think 10 minutes on a running machine is good, cuz it trains your breathing mostly, and is good if ur training for short distances.
