..which is the best for a beginner. Im not very overweight, but i want to tone up, lose some weight and improve my general fitness.
I want to buy one, cos i know i wouldnt stick to going to a gym everyday after work. The elliptical machine looks like hard work…is it too tough for a beginner?
you will burn more calories with an eliptical machine but it’s not too hard for a beginner. I think it sounds good for you xD

elliptical machine is better, easier, and more effective.
but if u get a cheap one, then u get what you pay for.
you are better off getting a good bike then a cheap elliptical, but if money isnt too much of an issue, then no doubt go with the elliptical

You will get more cardio effect from the bike. You will get in better shape, and burn lots of calories, and tone your legs. It won’t help your upper body so a few hand weights may be the answer for that. A bike might also be easier to do while reading a book, newspaper, ect.

no, it’s not too tough for a beginner. you might start out not doing it for very long at first but it’s alot better for getting more toned.

I am not very fit but I love doing the eliptical. It’s so good because it works out your whole body. It kinda feels like running but in the air. Whenever I go to the gym, I always do the eliptical because it’s fun and I can do it for a long time. An exercise bike is kinda boring but if you are sitting in front of a TV the time flies by. But with the bike, you are mostly just working on your legs and not the rest of your body. You are just basically sitting and moving your legs. If I were you, I would get the eliptical. They cost more but are way worth it. They burn a ton of calories, too.

go eliptical. Works way more parts of the body. Bike only works legs and butt and lower back. Eliptical will work legs, back, abs, arms and chest. And because you are using more muscle groups , you will burn more calories, and lose weight more quickly. It is very easy on your body too.No pounding like running. And you can reverse direction to workout your legs differently.
