Yosemite Fitness is all about family fitness and family fun. The rock climbing gym offers a lot more than tall walls.

The 7,000-square-foot facility, located at the corner of Willow and Nees avenues, is fully equipped with state-of-the-art exercise equipment as well.

For example, the Kinesis Room is reportedly one of only 50 of its type in the country. Think of the Wii. The Kinesis Room centers on resistance pulleys that can be used for weight training; they simulate motions and muscles used in activities like playing tennis.

You can also jump on one of the treadmills, bikes or elliptical trainers, which are fully equipped with satellite television and multi-media payers. Spinning, yoga and Pilates classes are offered throughout the day for a well-rounded workout.

But you can’t walk into a Yosemite Fitness facility without seeing the big climbing walls. The Willow Avenue location features 14 top-rope stations. If you’re climbing solo, there are auto belay systems throughout. The walls run as high as 33 feet, with overhanging caves and cracks for more advanced climbers.

“Climbing is a great workout. It burns about 1,000 calories an hour,” said Sean Smith, Yosemite Fitness owner. “But we want folks to know there are other things they can do besides climb. They can run, they can do weight training. There are things for the children. It’s a great place for the entire family.”
